The men that once build these bunkers left a lot of traces |
|
Name left behind by the
contractor who constructed the cantine. |
H. RAMCKE |
'Hummel, Hummel, Mors, Mors'
is an old traditional greeting from Hamburg. |
1942 |
HUMMEL |
HUMMEL |
MORS MORS |
"In the 19th century Daniel Christian Hummel having to carry water buckets
has always been accompanied by a bunch of children shouting
his name. His successor Johann Wilhelm Benz has been treated
in the same manner even so his last name was different.
Being upset of this he angryly answered "mors, mors" which
has the meaning of "kiss my ass" (mors (north German slang)
= ass). "Hummel, Hummel, Mors Mors" has become a typical
battle cry for Hamburg." If you are

Construction data
left behind by the contractor, can also be seen in the Oldenburg,
Todt
and UBB Lorient. Dr. Kurt Herberts & Co was based in Wuppertal and seemed to be the regular
supplier of paint! The company is still in business today! Standofix
is a registered trademark of this firm! Nice to see the similarity in these
details. |
